About the Camps

Endurance Sports Travel's "Living the Dream" Camps are designed for triathletes of all levels preparing for long course Half and Full distance Ironman races. Our camp's focus, from start to finish, is on the training (both mental and physical) because doing an Ironman is all about preparation. We will take care of the food, transportation, support, and planning. You arrive, train, adapt, recover, and improve. We've all thought - wouldn't it be great if I could just put life aside for a week and just train? That's what our camp offers. Our May camp, ideally suited for triathletes racing early to mid summer season events, will kick start your season with some serious base miles. The August and September Camps are perfect for those looking to do a late summer or fall, half or full Ironman event. At all of these Camps your training will be alongside 6 time Ironman champion Ken Glah as he prepares for his 26th consecutive Hawaii Ironman World Championship. The camps will feature 3 to 10 day training schedules geared to prepare you for your next Ironman race. Workouts will be catered for your abilities and shorter or longer ride/run/swim options will be offered to fit in with your training program.

Camp's Mission

At the EST "Living the Dream" Camp, we focus on the training you need to best prepare for your Ironman. You will get personal attention and advice from an Ironman Champion, Ken Glah-a true legend of the sport who knows what is necessary to focus on during training in order to race your best. We limit participation to a maximum of twelve registrants so the atmosphere will be friendly, intimate, and completely focused on your individual needs and goals.

Registration Options

The camps are arranged to meet your individual schedules. Athletes can come for a 3 day training weekend, a 5 or 7 day week, or a full 10 days-also called the "Adapt or Die" option.

  • The Three Day Camps are based on a Thursday night arrival. Training will be Friday-Saturday-Sunday
  • The Five Day Camps are based on a Tuesday night arrival, training from Wednesday to Sunday.
  • The Seven Day Camps are based on a Friday night arrival, training from Saturday to the following Friday
  • The Ten Day Camps will be for those arriving on the first Friday and wishing to continue through the second weekend.

Training Week Schedule

The basic schedule for the camps is shown below. Workouts will be tailored for your fitness level and shorter or longer ride/run/swim options will be offered to fit in with your training program. Camp Dates and Pricing

Dates: May 2010 (7th - 16th) August 2010 (6th - 15th) September 2010 (10th - 19th)

Price: 3 days- $600 5 days- $950 7 days- $1250 10 days- $1500

Accommodation is not included in the camp registration, but numerous convenient and inexpensive hotels are located nearby. Special discounts are available to EST clients who have booked multiple tours with us. Rates include training, lectures, video, testing, breakfast and dinner. All camps are limited to a maximum of 12 participants to guarantee a personal, intimate experience for each athlete. Triathlon clubs that book 5 or more spots in a camp receive a special discount for their athletes. Please contact us for pricing information.

Location and Facilities

The camp will take place in beautiful Chester and Lancaster Counties, in Southeastern Pennsylvania. While training in the land known as Amish Country, you will be struck by the beauty of the rolling hills, horse farms, hamlets, covered bridges, streams and rivers, roadside fruit and vegetable stands, and bike friendly roads. It is an area filled with charm and history. Pool swims will be conducted in EST's Endless Pool for in-depth stroke and video analysis. For longer session we will use a local 50m outdoor pool. Weather permitting, we may conduct some open water swims in the Chesapeake Bay. Bike rides will be through the rolling hills and farmlands of Eastern Pennsylvania and Maryland,and on time trial flat roads in Northern Delaware. We will have Computrainers and Lactate Pro Meters to conduct power output and lactate threshold tests. Runs will be on quiet roads through the horse farms of Chester County or on trails in local nature reserves.

Family Friendly and Convenient

Camp participants are welcome to bring their loved ones along. While athletes are training, families and friends will have a great time visiting local attractions including:

  • Numerous state and local parks which provide waterways and reserves for hiking, kayaking, canoeing as well as other outdoor activities including golf and tennis
  • Amusement Parks (Dorney Park, Hershey Park, Dutch Wonderland)
  • Philadelphia Art Museum

  • Liberty Bell and Constitution Center
  • Brandywine Valley Museum (home to many of Andrew Wyeth's paintings)
  • Hagley Museum (original home and gunpowder factory of the DuPont Family)
  • King of Prussia Mall (2nd largest mall in US)
  • Valley Forge National Historic Park
  • Longwood Gardens
  • Local vineyards and breweries


Convenience

For triathletes located in the Northeast or Midatlantic, the EST Camps are a short flight or car trip, reducing the time needed for travel, and lessening the time away from home or work. We also offer New York City triathletes a Concierge Service with Manhattan pick up and drop off for groups of 3 or more. Please contact us for more detailed pricing and scheduling information.
