– April 13, 2008 Set in the spectacular Nelson Mandela Bay, an exciting
holiday destination that features beautiful beaches and a wide range of wildlife attractions,
the Spec-Savers Ironman South Africa triathlon has been well received by this endurance sports
savvy country. The race is like no other in many other ways. The African dancers and musicians
entertain not only at the pasta party and awards ceremony - they are on hand for the race start
and at the finish line, too. Just half an hour from town is the half million acre Addo Elephant
Park. Come for the race and stay for an exciting vacation.

Ironman
France – June
22, 2008 Long distance triathlons in
Nice are a strong feature in the history
of triathlons. Going back to the early 1980’s
Nice has hosted some of the best long course
athletes both professionally and amongst the
age group ranks. I raced in Nice 7 times
and loved the atmosphere along the Mediterranean
Sea and up into the small mountain villages
behind the Côte d’Azur.
This
popular long distance triathlon attracts athletes
from 50 countries each year and offers 50 slots
for the Ford Ironman World Championship in
Kona, Hawaii.
Ironman Switzerland – July
13, 2008 The race takes place in arguably the most beautiful
European country, in and around the amazing city of Zurich. There will be 75 Ironman Hawaii
qualifying slots at this Ironman race. Come swim in the clean waters of Lake Zurich, ride in the
Swiss countryside and run the flat course along the lakeshore with over 80,000 spectators. Come
experience the thrill of racing in Europe surrounded by beauty, culture and history.
Ironman Germany – July 6,
2008 Frankfurt and surrounding cities host one of the fastest Ironman races with huge crowds
similar to those of the Tour de France. The run takes place within the city and has such high
energy that you can feel the crowd carrying you home to the finish. Add this one to your To Do
list of Ironman races.
Ironman
Austria – July
13, 2008 Held
in the picturesque
city of Klagenfurt
and the region
around Lake Worther
See, this race
will not be soon
forgotten. This
is Austria’s most
popular region
for summer sports.
This is a perfect
place to start
your European
vacation.
Ironman Western Australia – December 7, 2008 The beachside resort of
Busselton is the setting for this Ironman race. You will swim in the crystal clear and tranquil
waters of Geographe Bay, ride through the Ludlow Tuart Forest National Park on flat and smooth
roads before finishing with the run along the beachfront. There are 25 slots for Kona 2007
offered as well as the chance to see a part of the world few people ever will.
I have been racing
internationally since 1984 and have traveled and raced in many of these countries. As a result,
I know many ways to make traveling to these places less stressful and more enjoyable for both
the athlete and their companions. I have visited the hotels and negotiated fair prices to ensure
that your experience will be a positive one!
Here you will find a
comprehensive website that will make it easy for you to make an informed decision regarding all
aspects of your trip.
