Since it comes just weeks after the Ironman Triathlon World Championship in Hawaii, one would think that Ford Ironman Florida would offer a relatively easy opportunity to qualify for the next year's "big show" in Kona. In fact, nothing could be further from the truth. Ford Ironman Florida is typically one of the most competitive age-group races of the year. Add to that an impressive pro field, and you have the makings for one very exciting event!
The swim takes place in the Gulf of Mexico. The water is warm enough for a comfortable swim, but cool enough to allow wetsuits -- every triathletes dream.
The flat and fast bike course offers a perfect opportunity for a big-time personal best. The run passes through one of America's most popular state parks.
Just as it is on the bike, the Ironman Florida run course is flat, and, in theory, fast. The run starts with a mile along the beachfront before winding its way through a series of residential neighborhoods. During this part of the course, the athletes enjoy almost non-stop support as people wait outside their houses to greet them.

Extra service available - Complete bike unpack and assemble $50
Included in the package is the services of a mechanic but we ask that you unpack your bike and loosely assemble which means putting the wheels on, hand tighten the pedals, and bars. The mechanic will then tighten everything and make all needed adjustments to the gears and brakes. If you prefer to just hand your bike case to the mechanic he will unpack and completely assemble your bike for $50. If after the race you want the mechanic to disassemble and pack your bike this can also be done for a $50 charge

Summit Tower Condominiums
Just 500 meters from the swim start, transition and race finish of Ironman Florida the Summit Tower Condominiums are very well located for athletes and spectators alike. You can watch the runners pass by 4 times on race day. The units that EST has blocked at the Summit Towers are well looked after and include full kitchens, 1.5 baths, a large master bedroom and a living room and balcony with spectacular views of the Gulf of Mexico and the snow white beaches for which Panama City Beach is famous. The one bedroom units each have a washer and dryer as well as a dish washer and can sleep 4 adults and 2 children. The two bedroom units have all of the same mentioned above in the one bedroom units but have a second bedroom. The complex has great swimming pools and hot tubs as well as a game room. EST will have a tent set up at the front of the condominium with food and drink so family and friends will be well looked after as they cheer on all the Endurance Sports Travel athletes.
* Both condominums require a 4 night minimum stay.

For this race we do a ground only package so please feel free to go online and arrange a flight that is best for you with regards to dates, flight itinerary and price. There are a few options for people that fly into the area. Most people fly into Panama City but some prefer to fly into Fort Walton Beach because they can get a better price but you will need to rent a car that is big enough to hold your bike case if you decide to fly into Fort Walton Beach as our transfers are from the Panama City Airport. If you fly into Panama City we will provide the airport transfers.
Auto
While in Panama City Beach local transfers are included in your ground package therefore you will not need to rent a car. We will provide you transfers to all race functions, to and from Panama City Beach Airport as well as to local stores and restaurants. We will do course tours of both the bike and run for those that want to see the courses.
