New Zealand will be celebrating their 26th Ironman race on March 6, 2010 at the Ironman New Zealand in Taupo. Taupo is a world famous destination resort area known for its incredible natural beauty, friendly people and diverse activities for people of all ages and interests. Located in the middle of the North Island, Taupo is an ideal location for an Ironman event and the town goes all out to welcome the athletes and their families. The race is extremely well organized and has become a favorite for athletes from around the world. Along with the many options for activities in the local area the North and South Islands of New Zealand offer an endless range of ecosystems and scenery including, black and white sand beaches, great surfing beaches, ancient forests with some of the oldest tress in the world, rainforests, lush green pastures, large modern cities, small rural towns, snow capped volcanoes, natural hot springs and mud pools, glaciers and fiords, crystal clear lakes and rivers with great fishing.

Tui Oaks Motor Inn
The Tui Oaks offers a wide variety of accommodations many with spectacular views of the lake and mountains. Located just 2 minutes from downtown by EST shuttle van and 1 block from the bike to run transition. The Tui Oaks offers elegant rooms as well as spa and swimming pool. Some rooms have cooking facilities with large living rooms. This 4 story building has elevator access and only 18 rooms allowing the hotel staff to offer very personal service in addition to the services provided by the EST staff. Access to part of the swim course is directly across the street.
Studio-Lake View and Studio Non-Lake View Rooms
consist of a double bed in the lounge room and some rooms offer a double bed and a single bed in the lounge room, private bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities. All rooms have elevator access.
One Bedroom with Kitchen-Lake View and Non-Lake View Rooms
These one bedroom units consist of a large bedroom with a Queen or King bed and some also have a single bed, a private bathroom, a large lounge area with a double sofa bed or single bed, another sofa and a complete kitchen. All rooms have elevator access.

Catelli's of Taupo
Catelli's is located a block from the lake making it a little more quiet than many of the lakefront hotels. Catelli's is 1 block from the bike to run transition and only 2 minutes from downtown by EST shuttle van. We have studios with either a private garden or an in room spa bath, 1 Executive Suite with a spa bath in the room and 3 Family Suites with attached spa baths.
Studio - Some of the studios include a private spa bath and one studio offers a garden unit. All the studios have one queen size bed, one single bed, private bathroom, tea and coffee making facilities, Sky television and refrigerator.
Executive Suite - We offer only one of these 1 bedroom suites which include a queen size bed and a separate living room with an attached spa pool. In addition to the private bathroom this suite has Sky television and a fully equipped kitchenette.
Family Suites - We offer three family suites with attached spa bath and one family suite without spa bath. These one-bedroom suites include one queen size bed in the bedroom and a separate living room with two single beds. In addition to the private bathroom this suite has Sky television and a fully equipped kitchenette.

Baywater Motor Inn
The Baywater Motor Inn is a beautiful inn with incredible lake and mountain views. Located only 1k from the town center (about 2 minutes by EST shuttle) and directly across from beach access to the lake. All units have either a balcony or patio with lake and mountain views. All units have fully equipped kitchens, microwave, shower, large in-room spa, hair dryer, phone, internet access, Sky TV, electric blankets, heating, air conditioning, iron and ironing board. There is also a heated outdoor pool.
Studio-We have three studios available with a queen size bed.
One Bedroom Suite-We have 3 one bedroom apartments available. One has a queen bed in the bedroom and the other two have 2 single beds in the bedroom and a queen bed in the living room.

Air Travel
We are currently negotiating new airfares from Air New Zealand so please contact us if you want to have us get a quote for you.
Flights available from all destinations. We will send you a quote after receiving your departure and return dates. When planning travel dates remember that going from the North America to New Zealand it is an overnight flight and you also cross the dateline so if you leave on a Friday you arrive in Auckland early Sunday morning and if you leave Saturday you arrive on Monday Morning. The race is a Saturday race.
Transportation between Auckland and Taupo is available for you and your bike. One way transport is US $65 per person and US $35 for your bike. We can also store your bike in Auckland after the race for US $20 and deliver it to the airport for your return flight for US $20. The cost for the ground package is listed per person per night on each hotel page. You can choose your arrival and departure dates but I suggest arriving on or before the Monday before the race (you would need to depart LA by Saturday to arrive in NZ on Monday as you lose a day when crossing the international dateline).
Auto
Transportation between Auckland and Taupo is available for you and your bike. One way transport is US $65 per person and US $35 for your bike. Included in the per night package price is local transport within Taupo so you will not need a car. We can also store your bike in Auckland after the race for US $20 and deliver it to the airport for your return flight for US $20. There are rental car companies in Taupo that will allow you to depart from Taupo with the car and return it in Auckland.
Visa Information
US and Canadian citizens do not need to have a visa to travel to New Zealand. Citizens of other countries should check for Visa requirements.
After Race Tour
We will be planning an after race tour from Taupo to the South Island that will depart on Monday morning and return to Auckland on Saturday afternoon for those that wish to arrive home on Saturday in North America (you gain a day traveling back to North America). You will see some of the most spectacular scenery in the world while on this trip. This is not something you will want to miss.
