The Ironman 70.3 Pucon is the oldest race in Chile and has been the favorite destination race for professional triathletes for two decades. The race will take place on January 16, 2011 in the beautiful Lakes District of Chile. The area is surrounded by live active volcanoes, natural hot springs, lakes, rivers and forests which lend themselves to a wide variety of fun and exciting activities. The native Malahue people are famous for their incredible wood carving skills and friendly nature which has helped to make Pucon the favorite vacation spot for Chileans.

Extra service available - Complete bike unpack and assemble $50
Included in the package is the services of a mechanic but we ask that you unpack your bike and loosely assemble which means putting the wheels on, hand tighten the pedals, and bars. The mechanic will then tighten everything and make all needed adjustments to the gears and brakes. If you prefer to just hand your bike case to the mechanic he will unpack and completely assemble your bike for $50. If after the race you want the mechanic to disassemble and pack your bike this can also be done for a $50 charge

Endurance Sports Travel has teamed up with Gudenschwager Hotel in Pucon to offer a second option for accomodations during your trip in Chile. Gudenschwager is located 30 steps from the northeast shore of the Villarrica Lake, where the swim will take place.
Gran Hotel Pucon
The Gran Hotel Pucon is located right at the swim start and the race finish on Lake Villarrica. The wonderful views of either the volcano or the lake can be seen from most of the rooms. Rooms range from standard hotel rooms to larger suites. The hotel has two indoor pools and two outdoor pools, a very nice restaurant, sports and recreation facilities, internet cafe, and water sports equipment. Restaurants and shops are within a couple of blocks of the hotel.

The Gudenschwager Hotel is located three blocks from the city's downtown on the northeast shore of the Villarrica lake and a beautiful volcano view. The area around the town of Pucon is filled with many fun and adventurous things to do. For those who want a bit of a challenge there is the hike up the live, active volcano Villarrica. From the top of the volcano you can see into Argentina and you over look numerous lakes, mountain ranges, rivers and two other live volcanos.
Waterfalls
Experience the thrill of rappelling for the first time. To add to the excitement rappell down waterfalls! This adventure is referred to as "canyoning" and even though you may have no prior experience, it is very safe and an incredible thrill.
Kayaking
Kayaking on class two and three rapids is easily accessible to those who dare the ride. Even if you have no prior experience you can use an inflatable kayak that allows you to safely navigate the rapids along with your guide.
Rafting
You can enjoy the excitement of Rafting on class three and four rapids and this has been one of the highlights of the trip for those adventurous enough to go.
Hot Springs
For those that like to have a bit more relaxing fun after the race there are eight different hot springs in the area. We have visited 4 different hot springs over the last few years and have found them to be exceptional and a great way to relax. After stressing my adrenal glands with the aforementioned activities as well as after a hard race and a long night at the race party, the hot springs were "just what the doctor ordered."
Horseback Trips
Also on offer are some relaxing and very scenic horseback trips in the local fields and woods leading past beautiful streams and the occasional waterfall.
Camping
The last few years some in the group have opted to go on a one night camping trip to the Cani Sanctuary. We watch the sunset from the rim of an ancient volcano. From this point we can see 4 volcanos and the Andes. We sleep beneath some of the oldest trees on the earth (2000 yrs), beside a crystal clear lake within a crater. This is an incredible trip!!
Other Activities
Other activities include sailing, windsurfing, jet-skiing, water-skiing as well as technical and non-technical mountain bike rides
